Best AI visibility tools in 2026: six compared, prices checked

Six tools that check whether ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI answers name your brand. The right one depends on how many questions you need to watch, and how often.

Our tools are listed first and marked Ours; the rest are by entry price, and none paid to be here. Prices checked on each company's own site on 22 October 2026.

Monthly prices before tax, on monthly billing where the site shows both. "Add-on" means it needs that company's main subscription as well.

How we compared them

  1. Engines covered by default, and which cost extra.
  2. Whose questions: prompts you write, or a fixed set the vendor chose.
  3. How often and how many times each question is asked.
  4. Whether the result has an error margin, because one answer is a poor sample (below).
  5. A published price and a way to start without a sales call.

Why one answer isn't enough

Ask ChatGPT the same question twice and you will often get a different list of brands, in a different order. Rand Fishkin's repeated-run tests, reported by Search Engine Land, found AI tools rarely return the same list twice, and that how often a brand appears holds steadier than where it ranks. BrightEdge found ChatGPT and Google's AI disagreed on brand recommendations for about 62% of queries.

So two things matter when you compare these tools: how many questions they cover, and how many times each question is asked before a number is reported. The tools below trade those off differently.

The six, in detail

01DATA HIT Tools: AI Answer Stability and AI Answer Monitor Ours

Best for
Knowing, with an error margin, how often AI engines name you for the questions that matter most
Price
Free account: 3 Stability checks a month at 5 runs per engine. Tools Pro: $39 a month (145 AI credits) or $99 for agencies (400)
Engines
ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Mode
Worth knowing
You run checks when you want them; it is not a daily dashboard of hundreds of prompts

AI Answer Stability asks each engine the same question 5, 10 or 20 times and counts how often each names your brand, with a 95% interval showing how sure that count is. It also reports how often you were named first, how much the brand list changes between answers, and which sites each engine cited. AI Answer Monitor adds Google's side: how much of your search demand Google now answers with an AI Overview, and whether those answers link to you.

Where others are better: Otterly, Peec AI and Profound watch a larger prompt set every day without you pressing anything, and Profound covers more engines. Our answers come through each engine's API with web search on, set to the UK (Gemini can't be pinned to a country this way), so they can differ from what one person sees in the ChatGPT app. AI Answer Stability is in beta.

An AI Answer Stability mentions map for a server-side tagging question: brands down the side, five answers each from ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity across the top, each shaded cell showing the position a brand was named in. One brand is named in every answer on every engine; the tracked brand is named in four of five ChatGPT answers and one of five Perplexity answers.
A sample check, five runs per engine on one question. Perplexity named the tracked brand once in five answers; ChatGPT named it four times. A single check would have shown one or the other.

02Otterly.AI

Best for
The cheapest way to track a small, fixed set of prompts every day
Price
Lite $29 a month (15 prompts), Standard $189 (100), Premium $489 (400); free trial
Engines
ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot included; Google AI Mode, Gemini and Claude are paid add-ons
Worth knowing
Add-on engines are priced per plan, so covering all seven can cost more than the plan itself

Otterly checks your prompts daily and reports brand mentions, citations and changes over time. It is the closest in price to Tools Pro and the better choice if you want a fixed list watched every day without lifting a finger. Fifteen prompts on Lite is a small set, and extra prompts are only sold on Standard and up.

03Ahrefs Brand Radar

Best for
Ahrefs customers, and benchmarking a whole market without writing prompts
Price
Add-on to an Ahrefs plan: custom prompts from $50 a month, the AI Visibility Index from $199. Paid Ahrefs plans include a few prompts
Engines
AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot; the index also covers Claude
Worth knowing
Ahrefs says the index works best for brands that already appear in AI search

Brand Radar has two halves. Custom prompts are checked daily, weekly or monthly. The AI Visibility Index draws on hundreds of millions of prompts Ahrefs has already run, so you can see share of voice across a category with no setup. If you already pay for Ahrefs, it is the natural place to start.

04Peec AI

Best for
Marketing and SEO teams that want daily tracking shared across unlimited users
Price
Starter €85 a month (50 prompts), Pro €205 (150), Advanced €425 (350); Enterprise custom
Engines
Choose 3 of ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI; more on Enterprise
Worth knowing
Three engines per plan; the Data Studio connector starts on Advanced

Peec tracks visibility, position, sentiment and share of voice daily against competitors, with source analysis showing which sites name competitors but not you. It has the broadest feature set at this price and unlimited seats on every plan. It is priced in euros.

05Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit

Best for
Teams that already run their SEO in Semrush
Price
$99 a month, added to a paid Semrush subscription; also bundled in Semrush One
Engines
ChatGPT and Google AI Mode for prompt tracking
Worth knowing
Fewer engines than the specialists, and no free trial of the toolkit itself

The toolkit adds an AI visibility score, competitor comparison, daily prompt tracking, prompt research with topic-level volume, and an audit for issues that block AI crawlers. Its strength is that it sits beside your keyword and backlink data, so you don't need another login.

06Profound

Best for
Large brands and agencies tracking many prompts across many engines and regions
Price
Custom (Enterprise). A free 7-day trial runs 50 preset prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews
Engines
Up to 9: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, AI Overviews and Exa
Worth knowing
No public price; the trial's prompts can't be edited

Profound is the most complete platform here: the widest engine coverage, custom languages and regions, API access, exports and single sign-on. If you need all of that, it is the one to talk to. For one site checking a handful of questions, it is more than you need.

Also worth a look: free one-off checkers

Ahrefs, Search Atlas, Backlinko and SEO Site Checkup all offer free AI visibility checks that need little or no sign-up. They are a quick first look. Most ask each question once, so treat a result of zero, or of a top spot, as one sample rather than a verdict.

How to choose

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI visibility tool?

A tool that asks AI engines such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews the questions your buyers ask, then reports how often your brand is named, where it sits in the answer, which competitors appear and which sources are cited.

Is there a free AI visibility tool?

Yes. AI Answer Stability gives a free account three checks a month across five engines, and AI Answer Monitor's exposure report is free. Ahrefs and others offer free one-off checkers. Daily tracking of a large prompt set is paid everywhere.

Why does ChatGPT give a different answer each time?

AI answers are generated probabilistically, so the same question can name different brands in a different order from one run to the next. That is why a single check can mislead, and why the share of answers that name you is a steadier measure than one answer's ranking.

How many prompts should I track?

Start with 10 to 20 questions a real buyer would ask before choosing a supplier in your category. Measure those properly, with repeated runs, before paying to track hundreds.

Do these tools show what people see in the ChatGPT app?

Not exactly. Most tools collect answers through each engine's API, which can differ from the consumer apps because the apps add their own settings, memory and location. Treat every tool's figures as a well-sampled estimate rather than a screenshot of one person's screen.
